Mexico

By: Melody Carlson

Book 3 in the Notes from a Spinning Planet series

After months of a frigid Washington winter, Maddie Chase and her Aunt Sid are travelling again. But this time it’s for a vacation. The girls get to spend their vacation on the gorgeous beaches of Cabo San Lucas. It couldn’t get better, that is, until Maddie finds out that her friend(and crush) Ryan and Sid’s boyfriend Ian will be joining them.
This is just was Maddie needed, a fun and relaxing vacation. That is, until Ryan runs into his high school crush, Shelby, and Maddie’s happiness turns to jealousy in the blink of Shelby’s eyelashes. To distract herself from her Cabo love triangle, Maddie tries to help a nice, hardworking and smart girl improve her life and work for the life she deserves.
Melody Carlson has outdone herself again and I am praying she continues to do so with this series. Mexico is the best book yet, which makes me wonder how great book 4 is going to be. I absolutely felt awful for Maddie when her crush fell for beautiful girl that had no substance. I think Carlson did a great job of using that to relate to her readers.
I think everyone wanted Francesca (the girl Maddie helps) to get the life she diserved. I know I did. I think the plot about the orphanage was genius, but I think it needed a little more of an explanation of why it was like that.
After reading Mexico, my first thought was I want more. It was extraordinary and wasn’t anything like what I expected. I recommend that you read the series in order though, but not because you would be lost with the story, but because you can see that the books get better and better. The notes series takes you to a whole new world, and on a wonderful vacation. All you have to do is enjoy it.

My favorite part of the book was when Maddie was helping people.
