Every girl has secrets. What happens when those secrets can be revealed? This story is about four girls who used to be best friends. Their mutual best friend Alison disappeared and she was the keeper of their secrets. These secrets can hurt a lot of people, even more then themselves. There is Spencer who struggles to be perfect to stay in the same league as her sister and to keep her parents approval. Everything seems to come together for Spencer until she falls for her sisters’ boyfriend.
Then there is Aria. Before Ali disappeared, she and Aria discovered that Aria’s dad was having an affair with one of his students. A few months later, Aria and her family moved to Iceland. Now she’s back, but more mature and desirable. Even Aria’s teacher is drooling over of her.
Hanna has a secret that makes her sick, literally. Hanna’s dad wants her to meet his girlfriend and daughter and Hanna asked Ali to come with her for moral support. Hanna discovers what her father really thinks of her. Hanna knows she has to become perfect to never feel that shame again. What will happen when Hanna’s “perfection” falls apart?
Emily is the classic girl next door. She has a perfect boyfriend, one of the top swimmers on the swim team, and has stayed the same since Ali disappeared. When a new family moves into Ali’s old house, she makes friends with the girl who lives there, Maya. After getting to know Maya, Emily gets a crush on her, and needs to explore what her real feelings are.
These girls all have secrets, all four only know about one, the ‘Jenna Thing’ and only time will tell us what it is. Only one person knows all of these girls’ secrets, Alison. So what happens when the girls start getting IM’s, emails, and text messages from a mysterious A, who knows those same secrets, plus their new ones?
This book was INCREDIBLE. It had mystery and it was fun to discover your favorite character. It was great to see how these girls acted because in a way I could see how they were friends. The Pretty Little Liars series is Gossip Girl meets The Clique. I promise you won’t be able to put it down. I know I couldn’t. Plus, guessing who A is is half the fun, don’t you want to join in?
My favorite part of the book was the journey it took me on and trying to figure out who A is.
My favorite character is Aria (I don’t think she did anything wrong about how she handled her Dad).
