It's late in the twenty-first century, and the United Safer States of America (USSA) has become a nation obsessed with safety. For Bo Marsten, a teenager who grew up in the USSA, it's all good. He knows the harsh laws were created to protect the people. But when Bo's temper flares out of control and he's sentenced to three years of manual labor, he's not so down with the law anymore.
Bo's forced to live and work in a factory in the Canadian tundra. The warden running the place is totally out of his mind, and cares little for his inmates' safety. Bo will have to decide what's worse: a society that locks people up for road rage, or a prison where the wrong move could make you polar bear food.
As I’ve said before, it takes a lot for me to enjoy, let alone READ, a sci-fi or fantasy book, but when I read the back cover of Rash, it took me exactly 2 seconds to decide to read it. This futuristic drama is out of this world. That is because when we think of the future, we dream of the possibilities, but to dream of “this” would be a total and complete night mare. I know that if I lived in that world, the world would make me go mad. This is that way that readers are drawn to the story, because the story is something that is beyond our dream of the future.
Many books have come before this story with jaw dropping stories of futuristic nightmares. We have all heard of them, some of us have read them, but Rash is a story that made me forget the ones that came before it. With ever chapter my mind was left reeling, my mouth hanging wide open, and all I could say was WOW. This futuristic rendition of Hatchet blew me away!

My favorite part of the book was hearing about the outrageous laws of the USSA.
